Science and Technology in the Primary Curriculum - Information for Teachers
The focus of teaching science in primary schools has largely become centered around processes and applying concepts rather than simply knowledge acquisition. While teaching some key content is important, it has been determined that developing scientific literacy and skills in using technology will be of greater benefit to students as they are confronted with issues and problems in the world requiring decisions and solutions based on science (Kaya, Bahceci, Altuk, 2012). It is of vital importance that teachers provide students with rich scientific experiences in order to develop valuable skills for interacting with the world ahead of them. The content in this website aims to not only develop teacher's professional knowledge in this area, but to provide practical direction in utilising both scientific literacy and technology in the classroom.
